The Product Manager will work with the MBS/ABS team to develop and oversee the growth and servicing needs of PIMCO’s mortgage and asset-backed business. The role will have a global focus as mortgage products are broadly distributed in all parts of the world. The role involves extensive partnering with PIMCO portfolio managers on product line development and positioning, portfolio strategy discussion, and oversight of the business. The position will involve leading or partnering on product launches and coordinating the marketing of the product business with PIMCO’s business development and client service teams. The position will be based in Newport Beach, CA. The position will report directly to the Head of Product Management, and will work very closely day-to-day with the senior team leader (Senior Vice President) and other team members (Associates). The Product Management team reports directly to the Executive Office (COO and CEO).

The Product Manager needs to:
• Understand the factors affecting performance in existing mortgage accounts and be conversant in the strategies employed
• Have a strong desire for frequent contact with clients and prospects in a variety of forums, whether public speaking, company sponsored events, meetings, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to organize and communicate information effectively in writing and in interpersonal communications.

Experience
A minimum of seven years work experience in financial markets, including experience in MBS/ABS markets - sell-side sales, trading, structuring, buy-side portfolio management or marketing, and/or investment consulting, either at an investment management firm, consulting firm or investment/commercial bank. Candidates should have a very strong understanding of fixed income fundamentals. A strong knowledge of fixed income derivative products (swaps, swaptions, futures), and the ability to clearly articulate their uses and limitations, is highly desireable. A solid understanding of mortgage lending from prime to subprime, the varieties of mortgage securitization, and MBS/ABS valuation is critical.

Education
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or other related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in the above fields, an MBA and/or CFA designation.


The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical capabilities and presentation skills. The candidate should be extremely articulate and able to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely. They should also demonstrate the ability to exert influence internally and externally in order to get things done, ability to partner with others, and be self-motivated and able to manage a variety of tasks with deadlines of varying lengths.
