Alternative Investment Strategies Team
Responsibilities
➢ Perform quantitative routines to help identify potential hedge funds for investment (i.e. routine hedge fund data base searches)
➢ Attend initial meetings with new hedge fund managers (i.e. capital introduction seminars, meetings at hedge funds, etc.)
➢ Draft call reports with regard to the initial screening meetings with new hedge funds
➢ Perform qualitative due diligence work on potential new hedge fund investments (i.e. document reviews and on site due diligence visits)
➢ Draft Executive Summary reports (i.e. due diligence reports for potential new fund investments)
➢ Perform ongoing due diligence reviews for current hedge fund investments
➢ Draft ongoing due diligence reports
➢ Coordinate documents for New Fund Selection Committee and Risk Management Committee
➢ Responsibility for maintaining the integrity due diligence electronic and hard copy files
Requirements
➢ A combined 5 to 8 years experience in product strategy and control-related acumen is required for this position.
➢ Knowledge of hedge funds and fund of funds (i.e. product offerings and strategies, legal/organizational structures etc.) [Product strategies would include all fixed income, equity, currency and commodity related hedge fund strategies.]
➢ Excellent written skills
➢ Financial analytical skills (i.e. undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance or economics required)
➢ Knowledge of risk management quantitative methodologies and risk management practices is a significant plus.
The product strategy knowledge may have been obtained in one of the following manners:
• Research analyst (i.e. at fund of funds) with strong product knowledge
• A robust product control function at a major financial institution
• Market risk management function at a major financial institution
• Disciplined portfolio management experience
• The strongest candidates will have diversified product knowledge
The control oriented acumen may have been obtained from the following disciplines:
• Operational due diligence analyst at major fund of funds
• Product control experience at a major financial institution
• Capital markets audit experience
• Operations experience at a major financial institution
